* By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
+ correctly pronounce the name of the letter P/p
+ correctly pronounce the name of the letter P/p in isolation and in the words pasta, popcorn,pizza
+ recognize the words in different situations when listening.
- Ss can develop some following competences:
+ Communicative and collaborative competence: act 1, act 3, act 4
+ Problem-solving competence: act 1, act 3
+ Self-studying and self-control competence: act 2, act 3, act 4
+ Problem-solving and creative competence: act 4
*Language focus:
- Sound: k
- Vocabulary: pasta, popcorn,pizza
- Differentiated teaching:
+ Incomplete ss: can pronounce the name of the letter p/p in the words pasta, popcorn,pizza
+ Well-completed ss: can recognize the words in different situations when listening.

IV. Teaching activities:
Activity 1: Warm up
- Sing “ HELLO” song
Activity 2:
-Content 1.Listen and repeat
a. Teaching the letter P/p
- Procedure:
+ Have Ss point to the letter K/k explain that the name of the letter P/p is different to its sound /p/
+Encourage Ss to repeat several times
b.Set the scence:
- Procedure:
+Have pupils look at the picture and describe it. Draw pupils’ attention to the letter P/p, the word next to Bill and other words next to the things and the color of the letter P/p
+Ask pupils to point to the letter P/p. Have them listen and repeat the sound of the letter P/p
+ Show the picture and elicit the answer of who the characters are.
+Tell pupils to point to the and the word pasta. Ask them to listen and repeat the word
+ Repeat the same procedure with the bike, the bike and the kitten. Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the task.
+ Play the recording again and have them listen, point to the letter P/p and the pasta, popcorn,pizza and repeat until they feel confident. Correct pronunciation, if necessary.
+Play the recording again and call some pupils to say the letter P/p and the words pasta, popcorn,pizza in front of the class.
Activity 3:
-Content 2: Point and say
- Procedure:
+Have pupils look at the picture again, saying Look at the picture on Page 6, please! Ask them to describe the picture again. Draw their attention to the letter P/p
+Get them to point to the letter P/p and say it, saying Point to the letter P/p and say, please!
+Let them point to the pasta and say pasta , saying Point to the kite and say, please! Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the task.
+ Repeat the same procedure with the pasta, popcorn,and pizza. Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the task.
+ Ask pupils to work in pairs or in group
+ Invite some pupils to point to the picture and say the sound of the letter and the words in front of the class.
Activity 4:
- Fun cornner : play a game “Slap the board”
- Procedure:
+ Divide class into two groups
+ Ask Ss of two groups play game
+ Congratulate the winner
Consolidation:
- Content: Review the letter P/p and words (pasta, popcorn,pizza)
- Procedure:
+ Ask Ss to answer the following questions:
What have you learnt from the lesson today?
What are the core values of the lesson? ( if the teacher can take from the lesson).
+ Praise some Ss who are hard working/ active/ good…. as well as encourage others to try more.
+ Give feedback
Homework:
- Learn by heart the words: pasta, popcorn,pizza
